iLearners' First Day

A school themed gathering, "iLearners First Day!", was a night of fun and games! iLearners first acquaintance party since its inception in December 2007. While waiting for other iLearners we watched a playback of ABS CBN's KWK iLearners' Special Edition.


The program then started with a song prayer led by our very own songbird/ secretary Shariza Mae "Shake" Signe. The program was hosted by our VP External/ABS CBN's Greg Limpin.

Everyone introduced themselves and shared on why they joined iLearners. It's great to know that in our troubled country, there are still a large amount of youth who are willing to make a stand and make a change in their own little ways.

iLearners then had a series of games that requires team work and creativity. Two teams battled it out and Greg's team won!

In Behalf of iLearners Officers and BOTs, we would like to thank everyone who keeps on supporting all iLearners outreach programs and we hope you'd keep on supporting the kids of Lunas Elementary School and future rural schools that iLearners will be adopting.

Tayong Dalawa Press Con and Fans Day

The successful ABS CBN Primetime Soap "Tayong Dalawa" is about to end and soap stars Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson, Jake Cuenca and Coco Martin won't pass the opportunity to thank all their supporters and fans in Cebu.

Before greeting their Cebuano Fans, the press had the chance to get to know Kim, Gerald, Jake and Coco more through a press conference which was held at Castle Peak Hotel.

Gerald portrayed his dream role on "Tayong Dalawa" since he had always wanted to serve his country as a soldier. Kim also cleared it out that she is single and is afraid to pierce into a relationship for now and focus more on her career. Rumors of Jake Cuenca importuning Kim Chiu is not true and both are great friends off and on camera. Coco Martin, after a traumatic accident on set of "Tayong Dalawa" is here in Cebu to grace his Cebuano Fans and is now well and okay! Coco also added that he is open to the idea of doing another Indie Film as long as it has a good story and content. Coco is grateful and owed to his indie film roles that he had received so many awards here in the Philippines and in other countries.

After the Press con, Kim, Gerald, Jake and Coco, headed their way to meet their fans at SM City Cebu where around 1,000 fans shrieked and screamed for the soap stars arrival.

Coco, with Jake and Gerald, gave roses to their fans as a token of their gratitude for their undying support.

Kim Chiu who spoke in our dialect had made Cebuanos proud of what she had achieve as a young actress. "Naniudto na ba Mo?" asked Kim Chiu to Fans who had continuously shouted and screamed their answers to every question that she throws at them.

Gerald sang for his fans and even went down to shake hands with his fans.

Jake Cuenca who also did a song number, threw his shirt to the audience.

Lucky Fans also had a chance to play with their favorite stars Jake, Gerald and Coco in a game of " Newspaper Dance."

5 more Episodes before the exciting end of "Tayong Dalawa" has made everyone hanging at the edge of their seats.

In My Life Press Con and Mall Tour

Marriot Hotel was the venue for "In My Life" Presscon. " In my Life" is a film by Olivia M. Lamasan under Star Cinema. It stars matinee Idols John Lloyd Cruz and Luis Manzano together with veteran actress and Star for all Seasons Ms. Vilma Santos!

A liberating story on how the love of two men taught a woman to move on and live again! This would be a film of many firsts. First for John Lloyd and Luis to play as homosexuals in a movie and first for JL to costar with Ms. Vilma Santos. And a comeback movie of Ms. Vilma Santos since her career change as a politician.

To prepare John Lloyd and Luis for their roles as Gaymen in New York, they were immersed and went to gay clubs in New York so they'd oriented, prepared and play their roles at their bests. John Lloyd also admitted that he never hesitated in doing a challenging role as a homosexual and considered it as a great challenge as an actor. Same goes for Luis. Luis and John Lloyd are very liberated when it comes to being friends with homosexuals because both have homosexual friends and works with homosexuals everyday from make up artists to scriptwriters.

Luis Manzano was proud to say that his mom complemented him of his talent skills as an actor. Luis had to deal with 2 challenges when acting side by side with his mom, first, he tries his best not to dissapoint his mom as a son, and to act well as a co star in the movie.

After the Press Con at Marriot Hotel, we ran off to Ayala Entertainment Center for the Mall Tour. The mall tour was hosted by ABS CBN's Kapamilya Winner Ka host, Kat Ross! Games entertained the fans while waiting for Luis Manzano, John Lloyd Cruz and Nikki Valdez! Go Shon! hehehe

After a few Games, Nikki Valdez sang a song for the Cebuanos. She has been in a long vacation away from showbiz with her family in LA, USA and now back and she costars with Luis, JL and Vilma in "In My Life."

Luis then danced with fans in a game of best dancer! Never thought he would be very funny. But he was. Very much like his dad, Edu Manzano.

John Lloyd then sang for his fans and fans where screaming like crazy, even the demure and very girly Allison screamed her lungs out! hahaha.

Games with the fans! And Congrats to Tonton for getting compliments from Nikki Valdez. She said "ang gwapo gwapo mo" 2times! LOL

Lunch with Bayani

August 28, 2009. 10 Cebu Blogistas from CBS together with various Cebu students groups and youth leaders were invited to have lunch with Former MMDA Chairman and Marikina Mayor, Bayani Fernando at Grand Convention Center Cebu City.

It's good that now, Presidentiables and people planning to get a seat in Philippine Politics invite the youth to listen and get to know their political platform so we'd get to choose wisely of whom to put into power.

A little Info about Bayani Fernando:

A professional Mechanical Engineer. He is the founder of the BF GROUP OF COMPANIES, dealing with construction, steel, manufacturing and real estate. He has built the country’s tallest building, shopping malls, industrial and residential subdivisions and facilities. He is a former Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

He was a three-term City Mayor of Marikina, who transformed the former municipality into one of the best-managed cities and a paradigm of responsive and effective governance. During his incumbency, Marikina City was accorded 55 citations and distinctions. Read more on his profile!

"Earning, Learning, Yearning" this is what Bayani described of what it means to be happy and "Remove the Daily Hassles" when asked of how to live comfortably. The definition for me is a bit vague and general though, there should have been a follow up answer on how he'd go about on how Bayani would be able to do it.

Illiteracy is one of our country's major problem specially in the rural areas. In Cebu, we have around 890 rural schools (as per DepED) and most of them has an IQ of less than average. Bayani's answer to this is as simple as "Technology." He would hoist a classroom with a helicopter and put it directly in the school lot to prevent corruption. He also said that he would implement to teachers to finish their textbooks before the schoolyear ends to make sure that learning is administed properly. But how would Bayani be able to do that if even the rural schools in Cebu doens't have the current curriculum textbook to read on.

"Technology" is Bayani's answer to the problem of having less quality nurses and teachers in the Philippines, since most teachers and nurses are going abroad to work to earn more money. He would employ and invest in quality education.

Bayani also mentioned on increasing the tax so more funds can be generated for improving our country's situation.
